I have this huge fish tank at home which used to have fish in it once upon a time however after the death of the fish in them due to the fact that I like a nitwit had put my turtles into the tank along with the fish and one fine morning when I get up I get the shock of my life. i see the fish lying dead on its side and the turtles swimming nicely in the tank. You can estimate the depth of my rage but there was nothing i could do at that point of time since what was done was done and nothing could bring back my precious fish.
The next thing i did was remove the turtles from the tank and put them in a bucket so that i could bring new fish and add them to my tank which however did not happen since either i did not get the time or I was too lazy for it or I do not know and due to this the fish tank was lying idle for almost about a year or so till 2 months back. I decided to clean up my tank and prepare it for new family members to be introduced to our house. No doubt it was a tedious process and it took me around 6 - 7 hours for this whole operation. Once done i had to wait for the tank to dry up completely before i could start the water treatment procedure which I started with a lot of help and support from my dear friend Michael and which took me about a week before I could add the fish to the tank.
Once the tank was ready, it was time to make time to go out and get fish for the tank. So we all set out one day, eagerly to the pet shop in our vicinity, looking around in different shops and sourcing for our new beloved pets. We finally decided on 4 golden gouramis, 4 bala sharks also known as silver sharks, 4 clown loach and 2 sucker fish. Once we got them we were all eager to reach back home and see these wonderful creatures in their new abode which was prepared after such effort. They were introduced to their new house and they took some time in settling down but now it looks like they have been here since ages; sadly we lost one of the gouramis after a couple of days but there was nothing that could be done about it. Feeding time is the best because they can see and identify their food box and come to the edge of the tank waiting to be fed.
Some people say that they rather have other pets at home since pets like fish, birds etc. are not that interactive. I do not think so, it all depends on the time and attention you give your pets and then you see the interaction what you get in return. Of course, you cant expect them to jump, fetch, roll etc but then sitting and looking at them swimming gracefully, playing with each other gives a sense of relief, peace and calm. As most people would agree with me, when you come home tired from work, you can sit and stare at your fish tank and the relief that you get is simply awesome.
